Woman dies in Brightlingsea boatyard fire

A woman has died in a house boat fire at an Essex boatyard.

Essex Police is currently at the scene following the fire at LH Morgan and Sons (Marine) in Brightlingsea.

The cause of the fire, reported at 07:40 GMT, is under investigation though it is not thought to be suspicious.

The woman\’s identity has yet to be confirmed. The boatyard, in Copperas Road, said it was unable to comment at the current time.

A police spokeswoman said: \”A woman was rescued from the boat by firefighters and was given emergency medical assistance at the scene by police and paramedics as well as doctors from the Essex Air Ambulance.

\”Sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene.\”
