A fire which badly damaged a church in Watford has been blamed on arsonists.
Police believe the fire at the Derby Road Baptist Church was started between 07:00 and 09:00 GMT.
Det Insp Matt Phillips, of Hertfordshire Police, said his officers were working with colleagues from the Fire and Rescue Service.
He said the church was situated on \”the busy ring road in Watford\” and he appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Mr Phillips added: \”Our initial enquiries lead us to believe this was started deliberately, however whilst the exact motivation is unclear, we do not believe this was religiously aggravated.\”
