Man dies in \’severe\’ house fire at Beighton

A man in his 60s has died in a \”severe\” house fire in the Beighton area of Sheffield.

Fire crews called to Poplar Avenue on Monday afternoon found the fire had burned through the roof of the house.

Crews wearing breathing equipment found the man, who has not been named, on the first floor of the property.

In a statement South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said an investigation into the cause had started and would continue on Tuesday.
